We’re Broomfielders helping Broomfielders.

And we’re exploring ways to proactively and responsibly address our current housing instability crisis.

(We’ll add to this site as we go!)

An effort to meet urgent housing-related needs.

Even as we grow, we want to build on the tight-knit foundation that makes Broomfield unique. It’s Broomfield Days in September. It’s Ziggi’s Coffee Shop on weekday mornings. It’s the Brunner Farmhouse and Broomfield Commons on summer weekends. And it’s neighbors helping neighbors so that all of us can thrive. Because we’re all in this together.

In early 2025, we proposed two measures to raise new local funding to meet our most urgent housing-related needs, hoping to place them on the Fall 2025 election ballot for Broomfield voters to approve. However, a poll of likely voters completed in May 2025 showed there isn’t enough community support to request city council’s referral of those specific revenue-generating measures to the ballot.

As a result, we’re revisiting our proposed fund-generating mechanisms and beginning a longer-term community engagement process with local stakeholders. Our goal: to creatively identify one or more viable and ongoing funding streams that prioritize housing stability for hard-working Broomfield households. These could include future ballot initiatives (the same or different than ones we proposed in the spring of 2025), potential city and county budget reallocations, enhanced pursuit of philanthropic grants, local fundraising, and whatever other ideas we can think of! We’d love your feedback to inform our effort.

And to be clear, the new, ongoing funding we’re trying to generate would go toward local non-profits addressing the following three vital areas of urgent need:

REHOUSING

Provide temporary and transitional housing support for our most vulnerable neighbors—including survivors of domestic violence, families displaced by life-changing events like injury, disability, or eviction, and individuals experiencing homelessness—so they have a safe place to land while they get back on their feet.

STABILIZATION

Offer emergency rental and mortgage assistance, and establish a local housing voucher program to support Broomfield residents who are struggling with high housing costs—especially those spending 50% or more of their income just to keep a roof over their heads.

CREATION & PRESERVATION

Create and preserve truly affordable housing units for Broomfield residents facing financial challenges and rising housing costs—because everyone deserves a stable place to call home, especially when times are tough.
